Natural Hair Care With Lemon

The folk lore of lemon dates back thousands of years. It has been widely used for skin and hair care. The acidic contents of lemon make it an excellent cleanser for oily skin as well as a natural hair lightener for blonde hairs.

Lemon juice contains alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) that help to exfoliate dead cells from skin thus giving it a rejuvenated fresh look. Its acidic element is a natural cure for a number of body ailments. It has a natural bleaching components that help to improve complexion. Lemon rind is rich in essential oil called lemon essential oil. This oil is known to rejuvenate and restore the skin. It is extremely effective as a whitening agent or as a clarifier and astringent in skincare products.

There are multiple ways to incorporate lemon into your routine hair care.

As Hair Rinse

Take about half cup of fresh lemon juice and mix well in about one quart of water. Use as a final rinse after routine shampooing. The acidic nature of lemon juice will lighten the hairs and cause the cuticles to tighten, creating shine. The lightening effect is particularly outstanding in blonde hairs.

Homemade Shampoo

1 whole egg 1 tsp olive oil 1 tsp lemon juice A few bits of your favorite soap

1/2 cup water

Soak these soap pieces into warm water for few hours till these are soft and slimy. Now mix well all ingredients into a bowl with the help of a fork or whisk wire. This could be your first homemade hair product and store it in a glass bottle. You can use it for 2- 3 days if kept outside the refrigerator. However, if a longer storage is required put it in the refrigerator.

Homemade Hair Conditioner

3-4 tbsp henna powder

1 tablespoon hair oil of your choice 1 egg juice of 1/2 lemon

First beat the egg with a whisk beater till it is frothy. Add henna powder in sections and continue beating. Add some water and lemon juice to get reasonable consistency. Leave the mixture to set for one hour. Apply gently and thoroughly to hair and scalp. Let it stay for on hour before you rinse and shampoo. Further no conditioner is required.

Hair Packs

1 Egg 2 tablespoon honey 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 table spoon olive oil (any massage oil can be used like, almond oil, mustard oil, coconut oil or sesame oil)
Few drops of essential oil

Mix all the constituents well in a bowl and apply over the entire face. Leave it for twenty to forty minutes, followed by shampooing with luke warm water. End with a cold water rinse. This is an effective hair treatment for all hair types.

Hair Spray

Lemon Hair Spray This is a quick recipe, which works well for all types of hairs. All you need;
2 to 4 lemons 4 cups of water Drops of essential oil

Cut lemons in slices and place in a sauce pan along with water. Let it simmer for fifteen minutes till half of the water has evaporated. Strain the liquid and add essential oil. Pour this in a spray bottle and keep refrigerated. Here it stays well for a week or so.

Natural Hair Care Tips - Beautiful Healthy Hair

Eating a balanced, nutritious diet is the first step in achieving healthy and beautiful hair.

Your hair needs nutrition from the inside out. Hair-friendly foods are those packed with vitamins and protein so include plenty of leafy vegetables, fruit, fish and dairy products in your daily diet.

Try to use natural and organic hair care products as much as possible. Many commercial shampoos and conditioners contain chemicals that in the long run can damage the hair.

Regular shampooing, rinsing and conditioning with natural products can help keep hair healthy and beautiful. Look for natural hair care products with wheat germ, jojoba, almond or coconut oil, keratin, vitamins such as biotin, panthenol, vitamin A, E and essential oils.

When applying shampoo, massage the scalp gently, as this activates circulation and energy flow and stimulates hair at the roots.

Rinse with lukewarm (not hot) water. For that extra shine mix the juice of one lemon with a cup of water in your final rinse.

An all natural way to eliminate shampoo build-up and toxins in your hair is to rinse with apple cider vinegar once a week. This will restore the acid mantle, which is essential to a healthy scalp and clean, shiny hair.

Comb through wet hair with a wide-toothed comb and avoid brushing at this stage as the hair will be quite elastic and can be stretched to the breaking point.

If you are fortunate enough to have natural curls, waves or low-maintenance hair, it is always best to allow the hair to dry naturally whenever possible. For most of us, the use of hair dryers and curling irons are a necessity for teasing our hair into a required style, plus they are extremely convenient for hectic lives, the downside is that direct heat tends to make the hair brittle especially if overdone.

If you follow these simple rules you can lessen the risk of damage.:

First pat the excess moisture out of your hair with a towel. Do not rub, vigorous towel drying actually damages the hair shaft.

Comb hair with a wide-toothed comb and fluff up lightly with your fingers. Try to keep your hair dryer under the maximum heat setting and at a distance of at least 6 inches from your hair and move the dryer constantly around your head. Protect the ends of your hair by bending your head and blow drying with your hair hanging down. It will also give your hair more body. Leave hair slightly damp.

For extra volume, take small sections of the hair and use a spray bottle filled with water to dampen the roots. Blow dry on a faster speed rather than a higher heat setting, gently lifting the hair away from the direction it would naturally fall.

For sexy scrunchy curls mix a teaspoon of sea salts in water and fill a spray bottle. Spray on to damp hair and "scrunch" by using your hands whilst holding the hair close to the scalp then leave to dry. If you need it to dry faster you can blow dry but leave very slightly damp and allow hair to finish drying naturally.

Curly Set on Natural Hair

Curly Set on natural 4A/B hair. No heat is required for this style. You will only need castor oil (or you preferred twist product), and an optional rat-tail comb for separation. If you are a 4A/B type natural I really recommend trying castor oil. Its thick enough to coat and smooth the hair but not really oily and absorbs into the hair without weighing it down.

Natural Hair Care Tips

The hair on our head is also known as our crowning glory. It needs much care and attention to maintain it in a good and healthy condition. Yet, many of us experiment with different styles, using chemicals to perm, straighten and color the hair. Then there is pollution and stress that also do much damage. Any harm to the hair causes hair loss and if in abundance then can lead to baldness.

Whether excessive use of chemicals on the hair or any other factors, hair loss is caused due to the loosening or weakening of the roots. And sometimes this problem is irreversible. This means that no amount of treatment can help re-grow you natural hair.

Hair loss has become a matter of concern throughout the length and breadth of the country. And what is even more surprising is the age at which it begins. Gone are the days when baldness was considered a part of the human aging process. No, now even teenagers are suffering from this problem. They are losing so much hair. But what is contributing to this?

In today's times there are two major contributors to the balding population. These are stress and pollution. One does not realize the kind of stress one is putting their body through when one lets their stress go beyond tolerance levels. In fact, not only baldness, but also other health related issues are connected to uncontrolled stress.

The other factor is pollution. In certain highly polluted cities, it has become a necessity to have the entire body covered, from head to toe, to prevent the pollutants from causing any damage. Some pollutants are so potent that they are causing irreversible damage to the body, especially the physical appearance.

This all does seem scary! But is there any way to control this situation? Yes, preventive measures can be taken in the form of natural hair tips. The primary thing is to reduce or completely stop using chemicals on the hair, which is already abused because of the above mentioned factors. Apart from the various home remedies, one needs to also take care of their diet. The food one takes in also either weakens or strengthens the roots. According to Trichologists one should massage their hair as regularly and use natural shampoos.
