The Secret of Good Hair Care

The secret to a good hair care is to know what your hair wants and needs, like know your hair texture (dry, normal or oily). Another thing to keep in mind is about the right kind of products suited to your hair. There are loads of products calling for your attention; but choose the one that suits you the best.

In today's world, one hardly has time to go to a beauty parlor and sit there for hours to get soft, shiny, smooth hair. By following simple rules, you too can have great hair right at your home.

These rules are:

Avoid over-washing your hair. Short hair is easier to wash daily but not long hair. Over washing will dry the hair and make them brittle. Don't apply shampoo directly to the roots. Start from the nape and then work it through the rest of your hair. Distribute conditioner evenly through your hair. Use a comb to spread the conditioner evenly through your hair. Avoid twisting of wet hair. It may be convenient, but try to avoid wrapping your hair in a towel and leaving it twisted up on your head for long. It can damage your hair.

Avoid using hair dryer everyday. Allow your hair to dry naturally whenever possible. Deep conditioning treatment: Once a week give your hair a deep conditioning treatment. For this home deep conditioning treatment all you need is an egg and 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise. Wet hair and gently massage beaten egg through it. Leave on for 3 minutes then wash off with warm water. Massage in mayonnaise and wrap a hot towel around your head for 30 minutes. Shampoo off with warm water. You won't need a conditioner and will be a proud owner of shiny, soft, conditioned hair.

Another weekly conditioning hair pack can be made using henna and egg. Mix henna with egg and leave it over night in an iron vessel. Apply this paste in the morning on clean hair and leave it for half an hour for natural conditioning before washing with your usual shampoo. Do not comb your hair when wet. This may cause to hair breakage as it become very weak during this time.

A good hair massage before washing your hair can do wonders. Massage in warm olive oil or coconut oil and leave for 30-40 minutes before washing. Regular massage with castor oil as a hair oil helps the luxuriant growth of the hair.

Do not wash your hair with very hot water. Always use lukewarm water. Regular use of coconut milk on your scalp would make your hair silky and also improves hair growth.

These are some tips to get healthy and beautiful hair. Remember to follow your routine regularly to get good results. If changing your product, stick to the new one for a month or two to see the results. Natural products are harmless and cheaper too.

Winter Hair Care Tips For Black Hair

The winter is here and in full effect in Michigan; which means a change of wardrobe, driving conditions and should mean a change in your hair care regimen. If you were lax in your hair care during the warmer months, you may have survived with minor damage, but if you do not take some serious precautions during the colder months, come Spring, you will definitely regret it. Because the winter months can wreak havoc on your hair, it's very important to choose low maintenance styles so that you do not have to comb or brush often. It's also a great idea to incorporate a routine that causes very little stress on your hair such as letting the hair air dry instead of blow drying it; finger combing the hair instead of using an actual comb; or if you do use a comb, use a wide tooth comb. Also, chose good moisturizing hair care products that do not contain mineral oil, paraffin, petrolatum, SLS or SLES, as all of these cause dryness.

The harsh cold and frosty winds can cause excessive dryness and dandruff, and if you don't retain or replenish the moisture in your hair, damage will soon follow. The best way to combat this is by protecting the hair. During the winter, I never leave out of my house without my hair being covered. I generally wear a satin or silk scarf under my winter hat to preserve the style as well as prevent direct contact with the harsh material most hats are made of.

In the winter the air becomes extremely dry and harsh; inside and outside. In order to retain moisture in your hair during the day, it is good to use a humidifier to emit humidity in the air inside of your home or office. This will not only combat dry and brittle hair, but can help prevent or minimize dandruff.

Many women opt to wear protective styles during the winter. Protective styles are styles that guard the ends of the hair from the elements; buns, braid extensions, and weaves are a few protective styles to consider. Each of these styles are generally low maintenance, and if maintained properly will allow you to preserve as much of your hair as possible throughout the winter months.

If you choose to wear a bun, it's important to make sure that the hair is not pulled back too tightly, as this may cause stress on the hair line. It is also a good idea to take the bun down every night and lightly mist the ends (about the last 2 inches of hair) with a good moisturizing spray such as Growth by Sweet Nature by Eddie; and then lock in that moisture with a heavy oil such as castor oil. This will leave the hair super soft, strong and moisturized in the morning.

Braid extensions are also a great choice for winter months. If you follow these simple tips, not only will you preserve your hair, but you will have much stronger, softer and healthier hair come Spring. If you are going to use synthetic braiding hair such as yaki, kanekelon or other synthetic fibers, it is best if you soak the hair in apple cider vinegar and then rinse in cool water before getting your extensions put in. Synthetic braids come coated with a chemical that causes our hair to become dry; this will strip the chemical away. Another way to reduce dryness is by spraying the hair with a braid spray every day, again the Growth Spray by Sweet Nature is an excellent braid spray. You don't have to drench the hair; a fine mist throughout the extensions will suffice

Weaves are considered protective only if they are sewn in and your own hair is cornrowed, out of harm's way. In this case, the only thing that is essential to retain moisture is to make sure that it is replenished on a regular basis. Depending on the quality of the weave, it's a good idea to run water through the hair on a regularly, followed with a good moisturizing spray.

Regardless of which protective style you chose to rock during the winter, it's important to make water your best friend; drink plenty of it and let it run through your hair often. You don't have to shampoo your hair every time you get it wet, but just letting water run through your hair will restore lost moisture. When I wear braid extensions, I let water run through my braid every other day; although I wash them only once a week. I also try to kick up my water intake to no less than sixty or so ounces a day.

The best way of all to combat winter damage is to be proactive. If you start out with your hair strong and healthy before the winter, it will be a lot easier to maintain and preserve during winter. Adopt a weekly routine of washing with a moisturizing shampoo void of SLS and SLES; a good deep conditioner, and good moisturizer that does not contain mineral oil, petrolatum or paraffin, as these ingredients lead to dryness.

Winter Hair Care Tips for Long Hair

The winter months literally assault hair in the worst way, if you do not prepare for the most difficult time of year. During the first snow falls in the home, you can pay the first signs appear above the shoulders. Spalling is caused by the overproduction of cells, but can be regularly prevented by a good anti-dandruff shampoo.

This time of year when long hair is not only recommended and desirable, since they are perfectlycomplement for the many festivities occurring during the winter season, including Christmas and New Year. As the winter is approaching, natural hair care needs to be adjusted to keep it from damage, which is caused by the elements of the weather.

Winter can ruin your personal appearance when it comes to choosing an incredible and stylish hairdo and dry flaking scales of skin start "snowing" of your head as a result of dandruff, causing persistent scaling or itching of the scalp. Apply dandruff shampoo to your hair when you are not suffering from dandruff is also a good preventative measure.

The strong winds of the season are a danger that no type of hair care can resolve without the aid of hair conditioners that help to moisture the dryness of your hair. Some women prefer to wear hats, scarves or even wigs to "protect" their hair. That practice is not accurate, since hair can snag and break. Besides, wig of long hair is unnatural.

If your hair is severely damaged, do not use wigs and hats without protecting your hair with a scarf. No matter how cold the winter, keep the routine care of hair and use a dandruff shampoo dandruff control or prevent. Browse magazines or photos online, modern or classic long hair available before winter to find the perfect hairstyle and then you can grow long hairenough to accommodate the style that you have chosen.

If winter weather is too rigorous in your city with cold harsh air, you may damage your hair if you do not prepare ahead of time with the proper hair care. Humidifiers are useful during this season because they add moisture to your environment hydrating your home's air, but if you do not wish to use one, simply set a pot of water on your stove, and let the water steam into the air, which will prevent dandruff as well.

As for your long hair care, air dry it whenever possible, concentrate the conditioner on its ends, wash it under the shower and leave it hanging down. As part of your hair care, make sure to use a dandruff shampoo and do a final rinse in cold water disregard the cold winter temperatures, keep a super absorbent hair drying towel close by, and remember, never brush your hair when it is wet which can cause the hair to break.

The Truth ABOUT Black Women & Their Hair

In youtube search type in "Black Women and Their Hair - One Mo' Gen" watch the video and this "Black Woman vs. Their Hair" Many women just have no idea what to do with their natural hair. They resort to the easy but more disasterous way out, that is the introduction of perms, relaxers, texturizers, dyes, weaves, and etc. It's hard growing up in a society that tells you that you should be natural and beautiful. But when you dedicide to let your hair out (kinky, afro textured exposed) the same men, boys, women, condemn you for it. Our society is OBSESSED with STRAIGHT European textured HAIR!!! I mean on the one hand can you blame black women and children for wanting to emulate these styles. We are told that it is beautiful, and PERMING your hair is the SAME as wearing FAKE HAIR!!! Yes it is the same, that is NOT the original TEXTURE OF YOUR , therefore it is JUST as fake. Im not knocking weaves and perms, I mean there are some advantages such as being able to change your hairstyle frequently. But dont forget about your own natural hair styles. This is also for black men that use texturizers --believe me, that is where this all began. Please read up on the history of chemicals on African American textured hair. See that the women did not START this fad. This video is to help you understand that your hair is your hair and you can NEVER hide it for long. Stop running from your hair. Simple Hair Care Tips That Can Save You Fortune on Hair Care

Hair is an influential part of our personality and having healthy and shinning hair costs a very good spell on our overall look. A scalp full of thick and healthy hair changes your overall personality to greater extent. To achieve and retain healthy and shinning hair is not very difficult. Basically it is all about hair care.

Hair care is related to hygiene and cosmetology involving the hair on the human head. Hair care differs according to your hair type and according to various processes that can be applied to hair.

It is very important to keep your hair clean and keep chemical treatments to a minimum to prevent damages to the hair. This can be achieved by adopting a good hair care routine.

Hair care is all about choosing correct hair care products

If you are looking to get the best possible results from your hair care routine, you will need to choose the shampoo and conditioner that matches your hair the best. This requires the knowledge of various types of hair.

There are three types of hair:

Normal Hair
Greasy Hair
Dry Hair

Normal Hair:

If your hair holds their style well, look good and healthy all the time and it has not been coloured or permed, than you have normal hair and you should choose a shampoo or conditioner designed for normal hair.

Greasy Hair:

If your hair tends to be limp, it lacks volume or looks flat, does not hold a style and becomes greasy after applying shampoo, you have greasy hair. This type of hair has many problems associated with it. Dust sticks to it very easily and it clings to itself and your scalp and most of all, it spoils your style. This condition is simply because of sebaceous glands being particularly active. Avoid running your fingures once you are finished with your styling. You can avoid your hair becoming greasy quite so soon in this way. You should also use shampoo or conditioner specially designed for greasy hair.

Dry Hair:

Your hair is dry if it feels rough and looks dull. Dry hair tangles easily and it is quite difficult to comb or brush it. It could be frizzy or liable to split ends as well. If your hair matches any of these criteria, it is possibly dry and you should use a shampoo specifically designed for dry hair.

Hair Care:

You can save your hair from damage if you follow some simple hair care routines.

When you wash your hair, let them hang naturally and rinse them thoroughly with warm water. Now lather up the necessary amount of shampoo on your hand and apply it to your hair. Work the shampoo into your hair by gentle massage with your fingertips and don't forget to let them hanging naturally. Now rinse and be careful not to rub your web hair too fiercely because at this stage they can be damaged very easily.

Rinse all the shampoo from your hair before applying conditioner. Now apply conditioner gently and thoroughly and spread it evenly over your hair. Leave it to work for a few minutes. When you rinse off the conditioner, make sure not to rub your wet hair.

Use a clean and dry towel to carefully pat your hair dry. At this stage you can use a comb or brush to gently loose out any tangles. It is still better to let your hair dry naturally though. Now you can apply a styling product if you like but do not use it too much.
Take special care when you use a dryer on your hair. Always use it on damp, towel dried hair and do not try to blow dry hair when the water is still dripping. Do not overheat your dryer. Keep the dryer moving constantly because if you concentrate the heat in one spot, it can damage your hair permanently as well.

Natural Hair Care Tips - Beautiful Healthy Hair

Eating a balanced, nutritious diet is the first step in achieving healthy and beautiful hair.

Your hair needs nutrition from the inside out. Hair-friendly foods are those packed with vitamins and protein so include plenty of leafy vegetables, fruit, fish and dairy products in your daily diet.

Try to use natural and organic hair care products as much as possible. Many commercial shampoos and conditioners contain chemicals that in the long run can damage the hair.

Regular shampooing, rinsing and conditioning with natural products can help keep hair healthy and beautiful. Look for natural hair care products with wheat germ, jojoba, almond or coconut oil, keratin, vitamins such as biotin, panthenol, vitamin A, E and essential oils.

When applying shampoo, massage the scalp gently, as this activates circulation and energy flow and stimulates hair at the roots.

Rinse with lukewarm (not hot) water. For that extra shine mix the juice of one lemon with a cup of water in your final rinse.

An all natural way to eliminate shampoo build-up and toxins in your hair is to rinse with apple cider vinegar once a week. This will restore the acid mantle, which is essential to a healthy scalp and clean, shiny hair.

Comb through wet hair with a wide-toothed comb and avoid brushing at this stage as the hair will be quite elastic and can be stretched to the breaking point.

If you are fortunate enough to have natural curls, waves or low-maintenance hair, it is always best to allow the hair to dry naturally whenever possible. For most of us, the use of hair dryers and curling irons are a necessity for teasing our hair into a required style, plus they are extremely convenient for hectic lives, the downside is that direct heat tends to make the hair brittle especially if overdone.

If you follow these simple rules you can lessen the risk of damage.:

First pat the excess moisture out of your hair with a towel. Do not rub, vigorous towel drying actually damages the hair shaft.

Comb hair with a wide-toothed comb and fluff up lightly with your fingers. Try to keep your hair dryer under the maximum heat setting and at a distance of at least 6 inches from your hair and move the dryer constantly around your head. Protect the ends of your hair by bending your head and blow drying with your hair hanging down. It will also give your hair more body. Leave hair slightly damp.

For extra volume, take small sections of the hair and use a spray bottle filled with water to dampen the roots. Blow dry on a faster speed rather than a higher heat setting, gently lifting the hair away from the direction it would naturally fall.

For sexy scrunchy curls mix a teaspoon of sea salts in water and fill a spray bottle. Spray on to damp hair and "scrunch" by using your hands whilst holding the hair close to the scalp then leave to dry. If you need it to dry faster you can blow dry but leave very slightly damp and allow hair to finish drying naturally.

Curly Set on Natural Hair

Curly Set on natural 4A/B hair. No heat is required for this style. You will only need castor oil (or you preferred twist product), and an optional rat-tail comb for separation. If you are a 4A/B type natural I really recommend trying castor oil. Its thick enough to coat and smooth the hair but not really oily and absorbs into the hair without weighing it down.

Hair Care Tips at Home

Hair or the crowning glory is an asset to a person's beauty. The quality of hair is mostly hereditary and one can definitely do more to improve the health of your hair. There are many do's and don'ts while caring for hair. As we juggle with home and office requirements we look for quick fixes. The shampoo and conditioner that was mindlessly picked up at the supermarket needs to be replaced with a more suitable one as per the hair type.

If you notice hair fall, then understand the root cause of the same. Most hair fall problems are linked towards lack of sleep or a faulty diet. Include a lot of protein that will also help you acquire lean mass on the body and do wonders for lustrous hair. Ascertaining the type of hair will again determine the right way to care for your hair. Experimenting with hair products is certainly not a good idea. Though gels and scrunching mousse is tempting, make sure to buy a good brand and moreover consult your stylist about the same.

Application of yoghurt is a good conditioner. In Asia, the age old concept of applying henna to the hair holds good, Henna is extremely good for conditioning the hair naturally. Use a little brahmi and awla powder in it to heighten the nutrition. Dandruff is cured with regular cleansing of the scalp with areentha or soap nuts mixture. The soap nut needs to be soaked overnight and this is a perfect replacement for the chemical shampoo.

If you have some leftover beer, shampoo your hair and replace the conditioner with some beer. The results are amazing. Including coconut in your diet along with iron rich items like spinach and fenugreek does wonders and also promotes hair health. You could also try folic acid and other calcium and magnesium supplements for hair loss caused owing to a health problem. Coconut oil application on a weekly basis helps blood circulation in the scalp.

Pollution is the main cause of dry and damaged hair. If a bike ride is inevitable protect your hair with a good scarf. Woollen scarves may cause harm and invest in cotton or silk scarves. Whenever you go to bed make sure hair is tangle free. Do not tug at knots and wash hair with a good conditioner when it is exposed to wind, rain and snow. Snip off the split ends and use a gentle wide tooth comb. Let hair dry naturally and style using styled combs rather than curlers and waving methods. Ironing hair with moisture lock in applicants is preferable.

Homemade Hair Care Products That Are Effective

Women are usually very particular with the look of their hair because it is what people will notice straight away and they will remember someone's hair the most. That is why we want our hair to look as good as it possibly can most of the time. Most of us have drawers that are stuffed with curling irons, combs, brushes and flat irons.

Why are the bathroom shelves full of sprays and gels and the bathtub is full of hot oil treatments, shampoos, and conditioners? No doubt that we hope all these products give us spectacular hair. Do they really work because if not you are wasting lot of money. However by using homemade Hair Care products you can save money and have beautiful hair. In addition, most homemade hair care ingredients are already in your kitchen.

Everyone wants glossy hair as if they are just walking out of a salon. To most of us shiny hair is a sign of peaceful soul and a healthy body and spend a lot of many buying sprays and conditioners in the hope of having fresh-from-the-salon glow hair. However some of them will make your hair feel sticky to the touch.

Actually if you are using too much leave in sprays they will weigh down your hair while using too much of shine enhancing sprays will make your hair appear oily and unwashed rather then the shine that you are hoping for. However by using homemade hair care products not only you can save money, but they can restore your hair natural shine.

Don't Waste Your Beer

Homemade hair care product that has been historically known to add shine to a person's hair is beer. It is believed to be so effective at making hair shiny and several of the best hair care company's even include it in the shampoos and conditioners. We know beer has strong smell but these hair care companies found that it wasn't so much the beer itself that made hair shiny, but it was the hops (a beer ingredient) which causes the glow.

Tea As An Ingredient

If you still turnoff by the thought of beer strong smell and feel reluctant to try, tea is another ingredient which you have at home that has been used successfully as handmade hair remedy that adds shine to your hair. How to do it? First, boil the water, then give the teabag time to seep. Pour it over your hair after the homemade hair care product has cool completely.

Espresso For Shiny hair

If you are an espresso drinker but are not a fan of both tea and beer. You still can have shiny hair with homemade hair care using a cup of espresso but it has to be extra strong then pour it over your head, of course without sugar or milk. To achieve the best results pour the espresso on dry hair. 20 minutes later rinse it off.

Natural Hair Care Tips

The hair on our head is also known as our crowning glory. It needs much care and attention to maintain it in a good and healthy condition. Yet, many of us experiment with different styles, using chemicals to perm, straighten and color the hair. Then there is pollution and stress that also do much damage. Any harm to the hair causes hair loss and if in abundance then can lead to baldness.

Whether excessive use of chemicals on the hair or any other factors, hair loss is caused due to the loosening or weakening of the roots. And sometimes this problem is irreversible. This means that no amount of treatment can help re-grow you natural hair.

Hair loss has become a matter of concern throughout the length and breadth of the country. And what is even more surprising is the age at which it begins. Gone are the days when baldness was considered a part of the human aging process. No, now even teenagers are suffering from this problem. They are losing so much hair. But what is contributing to this?

In today's times there are two major contributors to the balding population. These are stress and pollution. One does not realize the kind of stress one is putting their body through when one lets their stress go beyond tolerance levels. In fact, not only baldness, but also other health related issues are connected to uncontrolled stress.

The other factor is pollution. In certain highly polluted cities, it has become a necessity to have the entire body covered, from head to toe, to prevent the pollutants from causing any damage. Some pollutants are so potent that they are causing irreversible damage to the body, especially the physical appearance.

This all does seem scary! But is there any way to control this situation? Yes, preventive measures can be taken in the form of natural hair tips. The primary thing is to reduce or completely stop using chemicals on the hair, which is already abused because of the above mentioned factors. Apart from the various home remedies, one needs to also take care of their diet. The food one takes in also either weakens or strengthens the roots. According to Trichologists one should massage their hair as regularly and use natural shampoos.
